Bakery

We are just beginning our revamp so many links will not work yet. Thank you for your patience and you can always go to the "Home" page for working links, as we change over our site.

*sniff *sniff* (I hear noses twitching as they come into the bakery!)

Come in and sample the goodies. Over the years we have collected recipes, not really sure even from where, but they are loved. If you are the author of the recipe, please let the "Head Baker" know and we will definately credit your recipe to you, with many thanks from the appreciative taste tasters!

Valentine's Day, Christmas, A Friends Pooches Birthday, or just because you love your dog! This treat is a great gift!

2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1-1/2 tsp. sugar
1 cup powdered milk
2/3 cup quick oats
1/3 cup yellow cornmeal
2 T. beef bouillon granules

Layer the above ingredients in a one quart jar in the order listed, pressing each layer firmly before adding the next. Place a 2-piece lid on the jar. Place a circle of fabric over the lid. Secure with a piece of thin ribbon or raffia.

Attach a card to the jar with the following directions -

To Prepare the dog biscuits -

Empty the mix into a bowl, and stir the ingredients together. Cut in 1/2 cup Crisco. Mix in l large, lightly beaten egg + 3/4 cup hot water. Knead the dough for 5 minutes. Wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate for one half hour. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough 1/2" thick and cut into dog bone shapes. Place on a microwave-safe plate and microwave at 50% power for 5 minutes. Turn biscuits over and microwave at 50% power for 2 more minutes. Repeat with remaining dough. Place biscuits on wire racks to cool and harden for a few hours before storing in an airtight container.

1 small jar of baby applesauce/or equivalent in *regular* applesauce
2 carrots
2 Tbsp honey
2 ½ cup water
½ tsp vanilla
1 egg

Shred the carrots with hand shredder or food processor. In a bowl, mix all wet ingredients together and add the applesauce. Mix thoroughly. 4 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tbsp baking powder

Combine dry ingredients.

Add wet ingredients to dry and mix thoroughly, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl to be sure none of the dry mixture is left. Grease a muffin tin with non-stick spray. (Paper liners stick to the muffins so just use a greased muffin tin)

Using an ice cream scoop, fill each cup ½ full.

Bake at 350degrees for approximately 1 hour. Makes about 2 dozen Mutt Muffins. Enjoy!

1 package dry yeast
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 cup mashed potatoes
1 cup milk
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup chicken stock
1 cup chunky peanut butter
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup rye flour
1/2 cup rice flour
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose white flour

Preheat oven to 325 F (165 C).

In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in water. In a large saucepan, mix together the potatoes, milk, molasses, stock, and peanut butter. Heat, stirring frequently until boiling. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Add yeast mixture. Gradually blend in the egg, wheat, rye, and rice flours. Add enough white flour to form a stiff dough.

Transfer to a floured surface and knead until smooth (about 3-5 minutes). Shape the dough into a ball and roll to 1/2-inch (12 mm) thick. Using cookie cutters, cut out biscuits. Place on ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 1/4-inch (6 mm) apart. Gather up the scraps, roll out again, and cut additional biscuits.

CAUTION NOTE: A lot of dog recipes will call for liver. Beef liver in particular is very rich in Vitamin A and too much of a good thing can cause kidney problems and potential death in your dog. GIVE IN MODERATION. Particularly a puppy.
Also, watch any recipes than "might" have nutmeg in them. DO not EVER feed Nutmeg to your dog.
